Alzheimer, The Notebook and some hole/nonsense

SPOILER ALERT! ! !

I kinda appreciated the symbolism in between the robot's memory loss/ value and franks memory loss / value (and by extension anybody's memory and it's loss by alzheimer). But did anybody else felt like you already have seen this film, and a better version in films like the notebook and the robot-human part in other countless films? Maybe the notebook didn't invented something in the "ending surprise", but I felt like it was a little of a ripoff, and a little hard to sustain one. For example, it's alittle strange how he remembers his son and daughter perfectly but he forgotten that woman he sees quite often is actuallyhis wife. Too much selective; too much convenient.

No, that's pretty spot on from my own experience. My mother died with Alzheimer's, she remembered me perfectly, but didn't know who the creepy guy was that was trying to tell her he was her husband, and that he loved her (that was my dad, and her husband). She couldn't remember her three daughters either, and yet old friends she hadn't seen for decades were remembered.

Memory loss from Alzheimer's is very selective.

That's interesting. And a sad thing, of course. It's always good to learn about anything... My sense of value of the movie remains about the same though, hehe.

If you now know that your main complaint is invalid, I'm not sure how you can go on with the same opinion?

First impressions can be very hard to shake, even when you later find out that they're wrong. Also, it's only a film.

His children almost always announced who they were every time they encountered him. I don’t remember that his wife ever did that.
