No trailer yet= bad sign??

I'm eagerly anticipating this flick, but, unfortunately, I've got this growing suspicion that this is gonna get little or no theatrical release. It's going to be one of those movies (and there have been quite a few) that I wait, and waaaaait, and watch for a release date, and then one day,a year after it's projected release date, ya spot it on Netflix and realize that it never hit theaters at all.
I would hate that to be the case but...lack of trailer and official website does not bode well (considering this is "completed" status and 2012 is >50% over)

The Austenland-movie website still at "coming soon" is a big red flag for me...

I really want to see this!

Otherwise it's back to watching "Lost in Austen" a couple of times...! ;o)

I'll tell you the meaning of life, but first you have to promise not to laugh...

Which other Austen projects are stalled? Now I am intrigued!

Those movies have rather small budgets, less than a million for each, so I don't think they're looking for a theatrical release. Not quite the same camp. I'm guessing more like a straight to DVD.

On the other hand Austenland, much much bigger budget, has some pretty known actors, so I would think they want a theatrical release. Perhaps they just can't quite get the edit right? No distributor and things like that?

Hopefully they release it soon and not be like Margaret...made in 2005, release in 2011.

Oh but there is a trailer for the modern day Pride & Prejudice, let me know if you got through it? The youtube production of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is better quality than this movie.

That is like the worst trailer ever. Seriously. It's bad. REALLY BAD. Maybe it is a student film? The editing for even the trailer is off. They don't even know how to do sound. The dialogue does not blend. Worst acting too.

The LDS Pride and Prejudice that came out several years ago was pretty good though for anyone who hasn't seen it. You don't have to be Mormon to be entertained. Very enjoyable with good acting for most of the characters but especially Mr. Darcy and Mr. Collins.

Still waiting for this trailer. I'm really looking forward to it. I love Keri Russell.

I worked on the film, and we wrapped the shoot at the end of August 2011. Spoke to the co-producer a few weeks ago, and Sound Recordist, both of whom are saying they cut is really good, that Emmy's songs are wonderful. Last heard, Jared & Jerusha are aiming for a Sundance 2013 bow, as Sundance has always been good to them. Have faith! The shoot was SO much fun.

After a drought of no news about the movie...that is good news. Films showing at Sundance, according to their site, will be announced in the next few days...lets see if Austenland is among them.

As if by magic, Sundance Competition screening announced today. Had an email from Shannon. She's VERY excited!!

I'm really hoping for good news from Sundance, and more releases across the US (to start). The movie has a great cast. I'd hate to see this miss a theatrical run for the masses and head straight to video. (Plus, Keri was in the low budget, sweetly funny/sad Waitress. If that can do well in theatres, this one can too.)

Review from Sundance:

Jerusha Hess' "Austenland" should quickly evoke a bidding war that will make the numerous studios regret passing on the first time around.

They just released it at Sundance and it's really good. Lots of fun. I saw it yesterday. They don't have a distributor yet, but I'm guessing they will leave Sundance with a deal.

I noted a lot of low ratings on IMDB. That's surprising, since I don't think it showed before Sundance. Or am I wrong. So, who saw it?

Update: It was just announced that Austenland has been sold to Sony for distribution.

Is it going to be released in UK?

The release dates are on the main IMDB page for the movie.
