Since this board is kind of barren in the topics I thought I'd share my review with people that have been anticipating the movie. It hasn't gotten the most favorable reviews, but I thought it was enjoyable. Feel free to post your own reviews in the thread as well!

I saw it today. It's not going to win any Oscars but it is a thoroughly enjoyable and funny movie. We laughed throughout the movie. It's fluffy stuff.

I agree with both previous posters. It was just pure fun with nods to Austen and obsessions. Goofy - absolutely. Over the top - you bet! But it was good clean fun that really just made you laugh while you were shaking your head. I took both my mother and my 17 year old daughter to see it and we all agreed that we hadn't laughed that hard in a long time.

I think the unfavorable reviews just come from those who don't understand the satire or the genre. A very enjoyable film indeed.

My own (very positive review):

I can understand it not being your thing but the reviews that it's not funny just baffle me. Saw it twice with a full house and both times the whole theater was laughing the whole time.

I saw this last night. I'd read the book, so I knew what to expect, but my friend hadn't. She was surprised up until the end because she hoped Jane would end up with Martin (played by the beautiful and talented Bret McKenzie). Even if I hadn't read Austenland, after reading all of Jane Austen's novels, it was clear that Martin was the Wickham/Willoughby of the movie. I thought Keri Russell and JJ Feild did a good job and Jennifer Coolidge was hysterical 80% of the time. Mr. Feild won me over by the end of the movie. I, much like Jane, was slow to warm up to him. I don't usually go to romantic comedies, but since this one offered Jane Austen AND Bret McKenzie, I had to give it a go and I'm glad I did. I really liked how there were touches of Austen's novels throughout the movie (the play a la Mansfield Park and getting caught in the rain a la Sense and Sensibility, to name a few). I'd give it 2.5 stars out of 4.

You can tell I'm a Bret McKenzie fan. If you haven't already discovered Flight of the Conchords, I suggest you do so immediately.

JJ Feild is way hotter than Bret MacKenzie so I was hoping Jane would wind up with him. I loved JJ as Henry Tilney in Northhanger Abbey.
