Where did the Jennifer Coolidge character get her money from?

She's apparently very wealthy. Clearly she didn't make her money, because she was a brainless bimbo, and since she's a single woman on the hunt for a man, she couldn't have had a rich husband. So was she a silver-spoon heiress?

I'd like to think she was, but nothing is confirmed in the film other than her being rich and stupid. Maybe she was playing the same character she played in 'For Your Consideration', who was also a dim-witted heiress.

I assumed heiress.

In the context of the film, it's not really important. It turns out she just has money.🐭

It's not in the movie, but in the book her husband and she owned several mattress stores in the tristate area and she found her husband on a mattress sample with one of the young sales associates. They had money to burn and she received half. On a side note, she was dingy but really good with accounting and marketing, it was just everywhere else she came across as a bimbo.

Casey: I say she's a very nice person.
Dan: I say she has no reflection.

I don't think it mattered in the context of the story. I just kinda figured she was one of those people who was a bit clueless when it comes to social activities and behaviour, but probably incredibly smart in other areas. E.g. she's a business genius, with an iron fist in the office, but outside of it she's... well, what you saw!

Interesting to read what dontpanik said about the book :)
