Filming of births

There are so many scenes of realistic scenes of births! How are they able to do this time and time again?

You mean other than putting a recently born infant between a woman's legs and calling "action"?

They use prosthetic babies for the actual birth, then switch to real newborns.

I think the question is how do they have access to so many newborns on a film set?

It takes TONS of painstaking effort just to get a single shot into the camera - a LOT of time. How is it they have newborns just hand to cover in goo and throw in front of the camera?

There are hundreds of agencies out there :) You just have to sign up!

This has been discussed in articles. They hire newborns as young as a few days old. The actors are trained in handling newborns. The mothers are always present during shooting, a few feet from the babies. One of the show's nursing advisers is also present for all the shots.

That is interesting to know. Thanks for posting. I wondered the same thing as the OP.
