A futuristic world?

Are we sure this isn't in the far future?

In the beginning when they are starting their journey and come to the old buildings that are only columns in the entire scene it looks like there was a shopping cart or something and other things we have now and not long time ago so did anyone notice this?

reply

Actually, I didn't. But that doesn't mean it isn't there. I'll look again. Meanwhile, since this is a fantasy film, your construction is a perfectly valid one IMO.

In an interview that Emma Watson gave she mentioned that the director planned the movie in such a way that it could be both: a tale of the past (presumable to give those who know the tale from the Bible a better access) - but it could also be a tale of a distant future (this would also be supported, for example, by Tubal Cain wearing something like a welding mask).

Personally, I find it intriguing that Darren Aronofsky tried to do both.

reply

Sure that's a great idea, and if the director had done it correctly it would have been neat. But it really couldn't have been both, because the artistic license he took was all over the place. There are just far too many (more than) suggestions that this movie takes place in the future, because the rest is a ton of inaccuracies if it's supposed to represent the past.

I can't understand your crazy moon language.

...and he was wearing jeans...it could be a post-apocalyptic world lol It seemed that way.

I loved the beginning but didn't like the last half. I saw it in the theatre maybe I'll have a look at it again. I liked Ray Winstone's acting.

It looked like a sequel to "The Road." Complete barren land, nothing growing except the flowers that they don't even eat. Just mountains and and a nothing, post apocalyptic situation with NOTHING to subsist on. WHAT WERE THEY EATING? And what was that horrid looking animal at the beginning? That they killed the hunters for killing because "strength comes from the creator"?

reply

The animals in this movie were to represent species that don't exist. As in creatures that went extinct because Noah didn't take them on board the ark. Or else in the future, things that evolved from our animals.
