Why I don't understand Religion

Lets presuppose that God exists. It's unlikely but lets just say God exists.

Believers will say that God giving humans existence is proof of benevolence. They claim God created us to share love; that we can make our lives happy in earth realm and assume existence must be better than non existence. I disagree with this assessment. Even if we become very successful and find pure happiness/peace on earth, will we ever be on our God's level? Will we ever reach the level of our creator? If not, then that makes the creator a false god. A creator of slaves to suit a veiled agenda. If God loves us he should want us to be his complete equal, not to create intellectually inferior beings to rule over.

Would it be noble or just for humans to create slightly retarded human clones to do our bidding and have them worship us? Then we reward the best slaves? The slaves love us and are "happy" in their own way, so everything is okay? That idea is morally sick. The humans doing this cloning would be reprehensible monsters. Doesn't that make God a monster if he is stifling and stunting our potential intelligence?

What can god do that you can't do?

That is an interesting assessment. This is why I could never 'believe' in such a god and think Religion is an evil concept designed to create a power balance, tipped in the favor of those 'closest to god' (Religious authority).

1. We are smart enough to do good or bad.
2. Rewards go to good people, not "best" people.
3. We already punish bad people and reward good people here in this world. That's not an alien concept.

I don't understand you.

The created can never be on the same level as the creator. There's no need for that. Humans, plants and animals were created to reach their potential. Are you saying that plants, animals and humans are supposed to be on the same "level" as the creator?

I am the Alpha and the Omoxus. The Omoxus and the Omega

Suppose this world/life/existence is a step in each individual soul's development? We learn from it and thereby we grow and develop to the point where we either show we deserve greater power and responsibility, or we show that we deserve...something else.
I am not saying that is so, I am simply saying that religious people don't all or even mostly believe what you said they do.

Incidentally, I would actually hate the idea of my fellow humans being given god's powers. We are too stupid, cruel, bigoted, short-sighted, selfish...I could go on. We could eliminate hunger and want if we chose to do so, but we don't because, well, reasons.
Given our history as a species, how is it that we would deserve greater powers than we already have?
