Maybe the Director should have actually read the Bible?

The whole movie is Blasphemous! If you are going to make a movie based on the Bible, maybe you should actually read the Bible, seek Biblical counseling and wisdom? Which is why the movie was a total waste of time, money and an insult to the word of God.

There are no "words of god". The words you read in the Holy Babble or any other religious book are the words of MEN, MEN seeking control over the masses.

Oh STFU. Did you even realize the director Darren Aronofsky is an atheist before you watched the movie? And that it's based on a graphic novel, NOT the bible? Maybe you should have actually done some research on the movie before you watched it and gave your ignorant opinion. This is America, where we can make a movie however we want and retell a story however we want. Don't like it? You also have the freedom to not watch it. Simple as that.

For those of you who actually came here with an interest in seeing the movie, do not take the words of some ignorant fool on the internet to make that decision. Only you can decide if the movie is a "waste of time" or not. IMO, all aspects of the movie are well done. I loved it. I'd watch it again. I'm an atheist so I take mythology for what it is: MYTHOLOGY. If you're open minded enough to view this as folklore like it's meant to be, then you will highly enjoy it.

Sacred story? Story is the key word. A world wide flood covering the tallest mountain top to a depth of 22+ feet NEVER HAPPENED. People need to get with reality and give up this childish need for a religion.

Exactly. But American audiences are only familiar with the Protestant canon, and so the concept that Bibles in more ancient parts of the world might include different books and passages is absolutely beyond their comprehension. Then they come to message boards like this one and complain.

It's based on The Bible as Disney's Hercules is based on Hellenism. A movie doesn't have to be always source-accurate, the can have creative liberties. It's a fictional movie after all, not documentary.

It's just as accurate to the source as DeMille's "Ten Commandments," which also had lots of embellishment from other sources.

We had a Catholic "Hollywood" director make The Last Temptation of Christ. Now, we have an atheist director to direct a Biblical movie. I'm thinking these Hollywood moguls as Nimrods.

Liberals who hate Christians seem to really enjoy making films about the bible other events related to Christianity. It's quite strange. Ridley Scott for example made Kingdon of Heaven where the Muslim lands were depicted as a paradise while the Christian lands were completely backwards, and Exodus where 'God' was a bratty little child who deserved a fist between his teeth.
