What is the best season?

I'm posting this because I remember there used to be a thread about it and most people were saying season 3 and they didn't like season 1 as much.

I couldn't disagree more, in my opinion, the order should go 1-2-3 in terms of ranking just like that. Season 1 was the best season.

Season 1 was so much fun as everything followed evenly from start to finish. Introduce Frank/Johnny and all the main characters. Establish Norwegian culture and it's contrast to American. The American Crew show up and the story arc resolves. Geir was a great character I also liked bad guy Jerry Delucci. He was bad but also quite comical. Hit's the nail on the head.

Season 2 was still fun but a bit of a drop down. For one thing, it seemed like there were 3 stories spread out over the season. First you had the English mafia come to town, which was all right but I thought more could be done here (I love how they died though - clever). Paul Kaye is great but hearing him say the "c" word every 3 seconds becomes tiring after a while.

Then there was the androgynous Justin Beiber thief and his/her crew. An intriguing idea that ultimately does not lead anywhere. Then we have a return to Frank's crew, which I think is the best part of the season. It's funny to watch the Norwegian crew in New York. But I don't get how the Don of the Mafia is gay. Seems odd to change the political correctness from Norway to New York and unnecessary and out of place.

Season 3 was the biggest letdown for me (sorry former poster). For many reasons. First you do not need the change of scenery to Brazil. Completely unnecessary. There's so much to explore in Norway and the USA. There's no reason for Alex and Brazilian eye candy when there are so so many beautiful Norwegian women. Show makes fun of stereotypes, but Roar getting involved with drugs is just preposterous.

But basically the biggest problem is that season 3 starts taking itself too seriously and forgets at times it is a comedy with some gangsterism, not a gangster series with some comedy. Torgeir hallucinating and slipping into madness reminds me more of a Martin Scorcese movie, not a light beat comedy. Finally there's Rhys Coiro..oh that Rhys Coiro, he was annoying in Entourage and he somehow found out how to be even more annoying here. He's so brazen loud-mouthed, the same character in all of his roles. Some actors just remind me of scratching nails on a chalkboard and he's one of them. His character comes in and takes on a Norwegian gang so easily, something that took Frank all of season one to accomplish.

Season is still quality from start to finish though.
