Can an actor impersonate a virus?

In Alex van Warmerdam's film Abel, Abel asks a guest why she likes to act.

"I like to impersonate another person", she replies.
"Can you impersonate objects instead of persons?"
"Objects?"
"Can you impersonate a potato?"
"No, I can’t."
"I think you could impersonate a potato very well."

In Alex van Warmerdam’s imagination, an actor can play anything. A dog for instance. Van Warmerdam played a dog in his film De laatste dagen van Emma Blank. Or the protagonist in a novel, who complains to his writer about his story so far, begging to experience something fun, (Ober).
Having seen Borgman, I don’t think it’s far fetched to suppose that Van Warmerdam toyed with the idea of actors impersonating a virus and other actors impersonating the body that gets infected and ultimately killed. Does this make sense to anyone?

Absolutely!

He infiltrates an already declining immune system from within and destroys it.

We've met before, haven't we?
