I liked the movie even though there is no explanation. I have this strange feeling that there was logic to it all and this brought me to this forum - I wanted to read what other people think the explanation was. It just pokes your mind. So, it seems that the thing that you hated was the thing that I liked and other people as well as it looks like.

Guys, google 'Alps german folklore', it perfectly explains most of the movie.

oocpaka, it seems you do not like films that are open to interpretation, or are symbolic in any way. And that's fine. No one says you have to like things like that. There are plenty of other more straightforward films out there that you are certain to enjoy.

However, your final advice, to "plain and simple, walk away and save your time" will only be beneficial to people just like you; people who do not have the inclination and/or ability to enjoy this kind of film. I wouldn't recommend it to them either.

To everyone else however - to people who enjoy trying to figure things out for themselves and bring their own interpretation to the film - I heartily recommend it. Some of those people have posted some very thoughtful summaries of their interpretations on these boards, and I thought most of them were quite valid and enjoyable to read.

But what do I know? I'm just another of that "bunch of idiots".

As another said, the movies is about alps. It makes sense within that idea.

But proclaiming all who "get" the film as being fake, merely because it made little sense to you, is utterly ridiculous.

P.O.S. movie alltogether. It doesn't matter if I can read some explanation of it that makes some sense after I finished the movie, because I rate movies based on how I found them while watching, I rate them immediately after having seen them. Borgman gets a well-deserved 2/10. Garbage.
