Do not watch this movie. The movie was made to frustrate people. Why,When or How ? No explanations. Absolutely no reason for the incidents, past present or future. The makers have taken the viewers for a ride and a frustrating experience. Is it a mystery,Is it folklore,Is it a thriller,Is it Horror ? Why the movie? What did the family do ? Anything evil, wrong or negative acts?. No explanation.
Why do you require a clear-cut explanation of every action and motive?
I agree with you that the film doesn't give us answers, just questions... But it's those questions I've enjoyed thinking over and discussing. On the surface, it's a mysterious story with mysterious characters. Wondering where they came from, why they do what they do and what their purpose is, is the fun I'm having with the film. I enjoyed the atmosphere very much.
I see so many people disliking it because they push all that aside in want of a conclusion. Who cares?! If you're not entertained while watching it, that's a different discussion. But calling a film stupid because you were frustrated is simple projection.
I'm not claiming to "get it" or claiming there's something to get... But nonetheless, I love the film.
Yo Dude,I was confused about The dogs and the rest. Obviously it's something to do with Their folklore, which was not explained,so I drew a blank. If An Indian movie does something similar, without explaining The lore or superstitions, you would ,also be lost.
AHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Analyze what you were trying to convey...
You're telling people not to watch this film based on your opinion. You're frustrated because you're confused. You're frustrated because you can't find reasons behind actions, and because you can't properly categorize it. (Is it a mystery,Is it folklore,Is it a thriller,Is it Horror ? Why the movie? What did the family do ?)
You're also frustrated at the lack of an explanation.
There you are, fully analyzed. Man, am I ever enlightened! Now how about answering my question?
Why do you require a clear-cut explanation of every action and motive?
And if you are looking for explanations, there are plenty of IMDb threads that discuss it.

This is only opinion and speculation, but interesting nonetheless. It's believed that Borgman and his company are shapeshifters. This is hinted at when he speaks to one of the dogs and mentions him by name, the same name belonging to one of his male counterparts. I believe that same male was the one who licked Stine's arm while she was in the tub, as well as the one who seduced her later on.

Ah to be young, with loads of spare time again and the gullibility of being tricked that the crap I just watched was art or something that made me look smart/special for liking it
Look:
Life is uncertain and *beep* as it is, with keeping up with bills, feeding the family, raising the child, and all the many uncertainties of life, thus I expect my entertainment to at least be straightforward, with a conclusion, I spent time and money on something that was advertised as a run of the mill thriller, I expected home invasion, or maybe love triangle and violence as a result, I did not expect to see a movie about a possible, Alp, or possible Demon, or possible Angel, or possible allegory for the bourgeois life destroying us blablabla.
I was expecting normal humans doing normal stuff, I shouldn't have to go on the internet to figure out wtf I just watched (my best bet was psychosis and everything being imagined in the woman's head), at the very least they could have advertised it as a "supernatural thriller"
the crap I just watched was art or something that made me look smart/special for liking it
You're wrong. This isn't about me.
I expect my entertainment to at least be straightforward, with a conclusion
Then be more careful towards what you watch, it's that simple.
I expected home invasion/I did not expect to see a movie about a possible, Alp/I was expecting normal humans doing normal stuff
Expectations are the enemy. I have my own, but I try not to let them influence the film, no matter what I thought was going to happen or what I thought it was going to be about.
Many trailers/plot summaries give a very different idea on what the film will be about. I've been disappointed before because of this but I've never blamed the film.
And
I was expecting normal humans doing normal stuff
??? Doesn't that sound like fun?!?
I shouldn't have to go on the internet to figure out wtf I just watched
