So they won once after injecting a billion dollars
Oooweee! That's not much of a challenge is it? Besides, Ferrari beat their asses before and since.

shareWhere in the world did you come up with a billion dollars? Ford didn't spend anything close to that amount. The movie cost them a lot more than the GT40 project at Ford.... and they didn't just win once they beat them the next year after which Ford pulled out their support. Although even without Ford behind them, a privateer entered old GT40's in the Le Mans the next 2 years and won then too. Ferrari's last win at Le Mans in the top tier was 1965, they haven't won since Ford spanked them.
So really not sure where you come up with this Ferrari beat them since. Ferrari has been nothing in endurance racing, the only racing they had been successful in since that time has been F1, and even there you can't call them a great success story as they haven't won a championship since 2008. Ford has never built F1 cars, so they never really competed there, although Ford did supply F1 teams with their engines and during the time they were engaged in that their engines were used in about a dozen championship winning teams.
I have no clue where you come up with your hard on for Ferrari, but honestly they aren't that great in racing... their strong point has been in marketing - I mean they convinced you they were much better than they really are now didn't they.
Fascinating! I have nothing with Ferrari. Just a post to incite some dialog.
shareThe “Ford” F1 V8 was designed and built by Coventry Climax in England . The only thing Ford did was to slap their name on the thing.
shareActually Ford bankrolled the development of the engine, without Ford Cosworth would have remained an unproven idea. It was also Ford that pushed Cosworth to develop other variants that put Cosworth on the map. So Ford did a bit more than simply put their name on the engines.
shareYes, they gave Cosworth money and “encouraged” them. Nothing in your post says a thing about Ford contributing to the engineering of the V-8. Ford gave money and led cheers.
And put their name on the result.
The GT40 won 4 years in a row.

It could have been worse: they could have spent a billion dollars and lost...
