Mary McDonnell.....

She delivers her lines as if she were an evil Nazi, hell bent on torturing someone. Very sinister. I can not warm up to that woman.

Also, watched my first episode last night. I gather that Rusty is a street kid. How did Mary's character wind up with him?

Thanks.

I never warmed up to the Rusty character and realized that I never watched the final season which I am forcibly doing now.

I'm getting used to it... I really like Brenda's old crew.

I've read some things online that filled in the blanks for me.

Mary still grates on my nerves at times. She speaks soft and slow, like an affectation. It seems unnecessary. I'm not familiar with her other work, so I don't know if that's her normal delivery or the director's idea.

She spoke that way in "The Closer," but she was supposed to be sinister -- Brenda's enemy.

She still seems icy. The only time they let her thaw out is in some scenes with Rusty.

As for Rusty, he doesn't bother me. I'll say that the kid playing him is a good actor with the material they gave him.

(I read that something big happens between Rusty and Phillip Stroh. )
