LOL ... and they say black people give their kids odd names! ;-)

reply

Because white folks are so perfect and never do silly sh-t. ;-)

No, the sh-t white folks do is often not silly enough, and too heavy-handed and nasty.

Juniper is kinda pretty
May Pearl is odd to me, especially for a double first name.
Carver meh whatever sorta passable.
Mud is just odd.
King is a little narcissistic but whatever.

It's a nickname. I did like how they called him neck for short. Haha. That kid was so funny.

I thought the movie made it really clear that the location/culture of the film was so different, that nicknames were used on a daily basis.

Remember when they told Mud their names, and Mud's reaction was "that's a heck of a nickname". It was like he was truly impressed with the nickname.

I'm sure it was a nickname. I live in the south (Arkansas) and my relatives are all southern. My uncle is referred to as "Monk." I've heard all kinds of very strange-sounding nicknames (most are older people who I do not know).

A little OT, but awhile back there was an article in our (small town) paper about some local parents naming their 3 boys after firearm manufacturing co. - Colt, Remington, and Winchester. I *beep* you not. I just ... well, cringed lol.

Hey folks,

Neckbone is a great nickname. Half the kids I grew up with had nicknames. How about:

Hot Dog Johnson
Fat, Blondie, and Pumpkins Billow
Bird Egg Deckard
Bunny & Rabbit Bucks
Spunky Douglas
Shank Sheeler
Hop McGlynn
Smoke Barge
Hot, Gettsy, & Alley Smeal
Fearless, Fearful, & Scareful Pfautz
Skinch, Jol, Nan, & Nook McGraw
Moose Moran
Sag Espenshade
Spider Mordan
Zorro Mazarro
Hump Fowler
Babs & Squeeze Kurtz
Duke & Tuff Hyde
Bird & Rock Thomas
Soup Campbell

These are all nicknames from my past that came to mind quickly. Give me more time to remember, and I am sure I can top 100 of them.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile
