Galen at the end

What was the significance of Galen sorting thru the river bottom at the end. It appeared there was a wounded Mud in the boat with him.

i was wondering the same thing about Galen. I almost thought he was going to find Mud's body.

The guy in the boat was sleeping because Galen had perfected his "night fishing" underwater breathing device and it was obviously past his bedtime!

I just don't understand why it was inserted at the point in the movie.

Pretty sure Galen is responsible for recovering Mud since he yanks the bell line as soon as Mud floats by.

That's what I gathered, he was probably old enough and had lived in the area long enough to also know who he was, and possibly be friends with him.
