I would have liked it a lot better if... *spoilers*

I think it would have been better if they left out the crap about the snake, the crap about Rose seeing things, and making a huge obvious deal about Mike's illness. There was too much stuff going on in one film. The film ended up being about a time loop. Which is cool. Had all the other garbage they tried throwing in there (for no reasons at all) not been there, it would have been more solid, and clean, and just more enjoyable. They try make you think it has something to do with spirits, or some weird snake. There is even hissing in the mine, but the whole snake story really ended up having nothing to do with their situation. They were in an area that for some reason puts them in a time loop. That's it. And all that was needed. They could have touched on Mike's illness a bit---because that does have something to do with it. But they made that too confusing. Like, making us think IS IT his illness---is it something else? Just too much. The writers messed up on that. Sloppy. Other than that, it honestly would have been an alright film, with good acting and a cool premise.

The snake was simply a symbol of coming full circle. The snake is eating its own tail which is a symbol of everything coming back on itself in a neverending cycle. The real issue is that the cycles didn't seem to wipe the slate clean so bodies would have been piling up from each cycle. We wouldn't see characters leaving the same notes because they'd already be there. It was a nifty concept for a horror movie but it definitely wasn't though through.

I know what you mean about it being 'cleaner' if they'd left certain things out: the premise was interesting and this had the potential to be a good little cult film. I just felt that there was too much going on, which made it difficult to know which bits were important and which were unnecessary.
The whole 'meds' thing was flagged from the start and so I guessed that it would be a big deal later on...It ended up as a confusing mess. Despite this, I enjoyed the film anyway!

I kind of felt like the music sucked too. The popular-styled songs were distractingly annoying and took me out of the narrative.
