US Version Of Harry Brown?

Well from the basic plot, I'm guessing this is just yet another US take on an amazing British film, and it went horribly wrong, shown by the ratings? I don't even think this is worth my time with watching, especially with Trejo who hardly has a decent movie going nowadays.

If you don't like Trejo you won't like this movie. But it's not a remake of a British film. It *is* very much a genre piece like Harry Brown, old guy comes out of retirement to kick butt. Harry Brown is overall a much better movie, examining loss in a deeper way with better acting by far. Yet I enjoyed Bad Ass just as much, it was more fun, and I found the community atmosphere much more relatable, seems like it brings it closer to home. Harry Brown is too polished for that feeling (though I re-iterate it is a better flick) and kind of examines what happens when there is NO community. So I think they are fairly different even while sharing a basic premise.

While not a direct steal of Harry Brown, it is similar. Obviously, the entire genre is a ripoff (or homage) to Brian Garfield's classic novel Death Wish (from which the endless movies came from).

Harry Brown is a masterpiece, perhaps the finest movie of the century so far, and this is poorly made and only watchable if you really like Trejo (I do, and loved it).

If you DO like Trejo, though, it is a must-see film. He's not Michael Caine, but his earnest personality comes through solidly.

Frankly, I was fearing Hobo With A Shotgun II, and its certainly far, far better than that...
