Why did he NEVER turn on any lights??

I know that would ruin the atmosphere, and I know somebody in a horror film has to do some really STUPID things to advance the plot, but COME ON! If you hear a sound in a darkened house, what's the first thing you would do? Correctamundo! You'd turn on the friggin' lights!

Because his wife would flip for waking the kids. And he would rather the whole family get murdered than admit to her that they were living in β€œthe house” that the murders occurred - I mean the house that the murders occurred in the backyard.

Overall, this movie was awesome!!! I can’t believe there was decently recent horror movie that I hadn’t seen - which was very exciting! I’ll be watching the second one soon. Heard it wasn’t *as good* but still will watch it!

When movie makers are gonna realize we won't be scared until we can relate to the person in the movie. It's got to be the most unrealistic movie.

The first thing I thought when reading your post was....

"SAY WHAT AGAIN!!!"
"We're gonna be cool"
"The truth is...your the weak and I'm the tyranny of evil men..."

reply

Um....okay Jules, whatever. BTW, the word you wanted there was "you're".

it was said in the movie that there has been a blackout, hence no "friggin' lights"...

Aha! I did not catch that. Thanks for the update.

because that's how the movies do it.

Wow! A blast from the past! And yes, I know. Sometimes people in horror movies have to do
really stupid things to move the plot along.

It reminds me of this hilarious GEICO commercial:

PS Still loved the movie, and the "twist" at the end!
