Why is the movie called The Raid: Redemption?
Who the hell got redeemed?
Demanding ang mga girlfriend, gusto ganito, gusto gangyan, ewan!
Redemption: The action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil. The action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt.
So if we use the dictionary as a reference, we can see that several characters fit the criteria. Rama takes action to save his brother, the good man in the apartment, the apartment building itself, and even the police force itself from the evil drug lord and corruption.
I'd say it's a very appropriate title for what is shown. Rama finds redemption in the movie, even if it doesn't fit your perceived criteria for that word.
It might be an appropriate title for the plot, but it sounds like a sequel. Like The Raid would be the first and then The Raid 2: Redemption. Oh, well, doesn't matter that much.
