Hell, the protagonist even refuses to carry a loaded gun (even with one bullet left) cause while carrying a wounded soldier, even tells the wounded man to leave his knife behind.. THE SAME KNIFE THAT POSSIBLY JUST SAVED HIS LIFE.
I didn't understand that part either. Rama does that about 2-3 times. Tosses aside the gun or tells someone to not carry anything.
A building with untold numbers of assailants w/ guns and machetes -- doesn't seem to make sense that Rama would insist on not carrying extra weapons with him.
I have heard some people say SWAT officers do not like picking up and using the guns of random civilians because they are unreliable in the field of battle, and it's better not to rely on something that could possibly malfunction during crucial moments. Even if we accept that explanation, how would that apply to the batons and knives strewn across the hallways? Those are about as reliable as you can get. And, like you said, Rama used them already and they saved his life. I wonder if the director mentions his reasoning in the commentary somewhere.
