Thunder

This is a minor observation, and I enjoy the film a lot, but did anyone else notice the overuse of thunder sound F/X? It never rains, but every other scene features the "foreboding" sound of rolling thunder. Bit over-the-top/on-the-nose.

I was about to say the same thing! Are there storms all the time there or what?

I was wondering this too. Maybe there are places where it thunders all the time but no rain.

I noticed the perpetual thunder/no rain about 15 minutes in and am also confused about the significance. Was this supposed to mean something or is it the director's secret??

I think it symbolized his knowing what was on the horizon with Maggie. It was always in his thoughts that he would soon have to kill her. Like the thunder was always there to show that the storm was close.

I actually didn't notice but I really love thunder so I probably was just lost in it all.
