Never mind zombies, something turned Arnold into actor

I am not a professinal critic, but somehow Arnold became a real actor in this movie. If Hollywood wan't biased against zombie-Americans this movie should win multiple Oscars.

He lost a lot of his step when the comeback first mounted with The Last Stand. His performance here was better, though I don't feel it mattered given the scant material.

After almost 40 years in acting, I think playing subdued in a dull film was not exactly taxing.

It's that man again!!

Sometimes all it needs for talent to be in evidence is a connection with the script... He obviously has SOME skills, otherwise he wouldn't have been a star for as long as he has.

I don't know about that. Seagal? Van Damme? Statham?

reply

Statham isn't a huge star yet - he's a decent action performer, but nothing more... Seagal and Van Damme are both mostly in DTV hell, where Arnold has never been, no matter how poorly his movies have performed.

I disagree with the thread title and OP. Arnie's acting is this film is nothing special. It is actually quite bad. If anything, his acting is worse here than it was in his 80's and 90's films.

Yeah, he can convey a lot with his eyes and facial expressions. He had a real connection with Abigail also.

It was bound to happen. I always knew guys like him and Van Damme had it in them to act if they really wanted to. But in their prime nobody wanted to see these guys "act". They wanted to see them kick azzz and blow stuff up. But hey if Stallone can act, so can any of those Expendables. Well, exluding Randy Couture or Steven Seagal.
