Best acting by Arnold....

Arnold knocked it out of the park!!! I don't understand all the hate. He can really act dramatically and this was a great movie.

I have a new respect for him as an actor. He is so much more than "the terminator" or "get to da choppa" and it took some stones for him to take on this roll. He had to know his fans would rip him for not blowing up cities and killing people as usual.

I have to agree, it was no surprise seeing him credited as a producer on the film - no doubt he's been wanting to play a 'dramatic' role like this for years. Sadly it'll slip under the radar for most people.

reply

I was blown away by his acting in this, incredible :-)

reply

Arnold rocks! This movie revealed so much that he is capable of that I never fully appreciated until now.

reply

I am impressed by what his has done here. Since he is a producer, it explains the $4M budget. It is a personal project of his and I hope it is successful. I think most actors want to do something outside the box and this is what he is doing. Good job, Arnold.

reply

I agree with you all. He was AMAZING! At times the pain on his face made me want to turn away.

The writer, who had a very bad childhood, said he created in Wade the father he always wished he'd had. He was over-the-moon when his "icon" accepted the role, and thrilled with his performance. That should be enough to silence anyone critical of it.

reply

Agreed. I don't understand the hostility in the other posts but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I was not looking for an Arnold action movie so it did not disappoint me. It is clear that he wanted to do something that he had never done and hopefully this will add more years to his already successful career. This just show what actors can do when they get the chance and obviously he was not worried about making a lot of money from it.

It was depressing but it was meant to be showing how someone copes with a personal disaster and also seeing what may be the total collapse of civilization. Let's hope we never have to experience such a world wide disaster in any form because it would take a long time for civilization to get back on its feet. Good job, everyone.

I think the three primary reasons for the hostility are: 1) those without success themselves resent it in others, even if subconsciously, 2) can't make fun of Arnold the action figure now, and 3) some people hate, or enjoy lashing out at, everything.

Anyone who watched this thinking it would be anything other than what it was - a "small" personal drama - didn't read the description. Any resulting disappointment is on them.

I don't think that money is a factor for Arnold when considering roles these days. BTW, what did you mean about his being listed as a producer explaining the budget? I assumed it was an "honorary" title.

reply

You may be right that producer may have been a honorary credit. Maybe he had some of his own money tied up in it thus he would be listed as a producer.

reply

Yeah, I've never been overly impressed with him, but I think this was the best acting I've ever seen out of him. He did very well.

reply

Very true. Even if the film doesn't do great the fact is he took on something different from his usual roles and succeeded. I think Arnie is going through a renaissance right now and want to see more of this.

reply

Agreed! While watching this I thought, wow, Arnie has really developed as an actor. It was almost hard to believe it was him in some of the scenes.

reply

I think the movie it's good. I really do.

And Arnold was great.

This movie deserves a solid 6, AT LEAST!

A 6.5, maybe.

reply

I thought his physical performance was really good. Scenes where he had limited lines, you could just read his face and be transported into his emotional space.

Arnold pulled it off; imposing and strong, loving family man and vulnerable. Enjoyed this movie very much!

You can see Arnold's dramatic acting chops forming in "Sabotage"...
