Best version of turtles?

I watched the old cartoon and first movie when i was a child i do not remember much about them but i remember i was enjoying while watching. The thing is i have never been a fan of the franchise, for me they were 4 turtles who can do ninja stuff and like pizza. But this show made me love the turtles and franchise. I am 22 but i cannot stop myself to stop watching. The humor, style is really good.

So i wanted to ask to fans who probably remembers and knows more about the other films or animations of the franchise, do you think this is the best thing in franchise.I do not say adaptation because there are some changes in this one.

Absolutely my favorite out of everything, and I've seen it all. Glad you found it. I didn't watch it at first because I thought it would be too childish, but I was wrong.

I think best Shredder is the nick's version. He is not just a purely evil man who only wants vengence, after karai dropped in that mutation tank i was really suprised about his reaction. He was sad as splinter.

I mostly agree with this list, though I have to toss in Raph from the 2007 film as my favorite incarnation of him. And Leo as well. With Leo going all badass loner and Raph going rogue, I loved the direction their stories went. Plus, who can forget this little exchange?

Raphael: [trying to catch a small monster] Look at you, ain't you cute! You want a butt-kicking, little fella? Yes, you do, you do! C'mon... I'm gonna drop-kick you to hurtey town, c'mon...
[is promptly bitten] [queue "Black Betty" playing while Raph gets his butt kicked by the little monster]

Also liked April and Casey in the film. Especially this little bit.

Casey Jones: [as April is driving recklessly] Can't this piece of junk go any faster?
April O'Neil: You wanna drive?
Casey Jones: I would as a matter of fact!
Karai: [to her ninja, as April and Casey still argue while leading the monster through the streets] You think they would be more concerned about the 13th monster.

Anyway, maybe a lot of people didn't like the film, but I actually enjoyed it. Especially Nolan North as Raph. The guy is one of my favorite voice actors and always delivers.

I thought I was wrong once. It turned out I was mistaken...

I really like this version of the turtles. TMNT generally has had decent writing, even the '87 version was better than other cartoons at the time but this Nick version has great storylines. This version of Michelangelo took some getting used to but I'm to the point where I like him more than the '87 version, the light hearted goofiness and his pure dumb luck have me hooked.

I have 2 complaints about the Nick version. I liked the '87 Psycho Casey, he was like the Punisher with a hockey stick and a tough ally for the turtles to work with because he was a little bent and his instability made him a fun character to watch. This one's just a teenager who honestly could be anybody. Maybe that's what they're going for, mass appeal and identifiable for young boys, I dunno, not working for me. The other is the theme song, a stupid thing to complain about but nothing beats the '87 theme song imo, just personal opinion.

Agree with you on all except Shredder...other than his face this Shredder is the best to me...'87 started out strong but became a joke.....'03 Shredder was golden until the Utrom reveal...Mike '87 was a party animal...but not an imbecile like his latter incarnations.....actually I like IDW Shredder more...and IDW Karai too...I like her more as the bloodline of Saki but do like the Yoshi's daughter twist on this show. I like the Mirage April too followed by Nick then IDW.

You need to re-watch the first movie. It still holds up very well. I prefer Mikey, Raph, Casey, and Shredder in the 1990 film. Not to say that I don't like them in this show. In fact, this show is almost perfect in every way. It's just that the movie gives them a little bit of an edge. Plus, the soundtrack is just too awesome!

2012 version overall wins.

Michael Bay version definitively loses. Bleh.

My issue with the 2003 version that lost a lot of respect for me was the fact that at the end Shreader was a krang, This one os well Badass and barely beatable , The 1987 Cartoom it had a lot charecters i dont want to see but a few I remember. To Me this is the best overall as its the best of both worlds.

I've only JUST started the 2012 show, and wasn't expecting much, but MAN does it blow away the Bayspolosion version. There wasn't really a single decent fight in that whole film, much less any interesting story. This show so far, like 5 episodes in, every episode's had a surprisingly strong story that's often pretty creepy, and every episode's had multiple fights in it that are better than anything that movie did.

It's crazy that a "kids" animated show is much edgier, darker, better written, and more violent than a $200 million dollar PG-13 film, but it is lol

To be fair to the Baysplosion version, it has the longest sequence of characters randomly sliding down a hill for like 30 minutes, and somehow ending up in the city. And randomly sliding down a hill for 30 minutes is what we all love about the Turtles, right?

Oh wait...

I liked the 80s toon as a kid, and I looove the first movie (still watch it now and again). I'll have to watch the 80s version again to refresh my memory, but this new version is the best cartoon, imho. The voice acting in the 2003 series turned me right off, I don't like it. Haven't read the comics yet, or seen the newest movie.

Listen! Do you smell something?

I like the 80's cartoon out of nostalgia and the '03 version for its novelty at the time. But honestly, I tend to tune out quite quickly after watching five episodes or so. The former is a mess and the latter just becomes boring after a while. Luckily, Turtles Forever pretty much sums up everything from both shows, though heavily biased against the 80's TMNT.

But I think this current iteration is one that I could actually watch w/o relying on nostalgia or novelty. Way better story, character development, dialogue, pacing, action, etc... than the others. While being kid-friendly, it's also not afraid to step into darker territory every now and then (it's the only adaptation I've seen where April gets mercilessly beaten up). This and the 1990 film are currently my favorites.

I liked the 80's cartoon as a kid, not so much now. I never watched 03 and have only seen a few episodes out of curiosity. I watched the next mutation out of desperation to have something TMNT to watch and now with this new one I'm just amazed. I agree with jp3183 about the better story, character development so on and so forth. I was also surprised when April got beat up, that was rough. This is why I can't see her suddenly being okay to talk to Karai when Karai was telling her she wanted to see Splinter. I'd hold one heck of a grudge on a woman who tried to kill me a few times. I agree, this and the 90 film are my favorites. I didn't hate the new movie though. I liked the new Raph and Donnie.
