What was Splinter thinking?

I understand he'd want the turtles to be trained with different weapons. But expecting them to follow this rule is stupid in a life or death situation. Plus he's fine with them using random weapons that end up functioning the same way as their regular weapons.

What an idiot?

Not an idiot. A good warrior should be able to learn how to use different weapons, and not be limited by using only one weapon.

But yeah, that story should have been handled better IMO. Raph should use a chain like in the 2007 film.

I understand that but it was a life or death situation. If they haven't yet acquired the skills to use each other's weapons, they should not go out into the field with them. This is what training is for.

And then he accepts them using weapons that might as well have been the ones they normally use anyway.

And after that, the turtles continue to just stick to their own weapons, anyway.

reply

Splinter knows that they'll just switch weapons if they can't handle the situation.
