Seth Green is awful as Leo!!

As soon as I heard he was taking over I knew it would be bad. He's painful to listen to. Please!!! They need to bring someone else in. Even my boys notice how horrible Leo sounds. All I hear is Chris Griffin. Awful!! Awful!!! Awful!!!!!! choice to replace JB.

Who agrees?

reply

I disagree. Too early to make that judgement call. Ask again after the season is half over. Then I can feel Seth has put in enough work for me to make a proper critique. Or I need to at least wait until a few eps after Leo is back to his normal self. Getting a little tired of seeing Leo limp around.

If you didn't look up who the new voice actor is, you wouldn't even think of Chris Griffin. That's way too far-fetched.

reply

Totally NOT true. SG has a pretty distinct voice, and it does not match Leo. It's just bad!

reply

If he originated this role and never voice-acted before, you wouldn't say that at all. Even if it is distinct, it definitely does NOT sound like Chris Griffin. He uses his normal voice for Leo, not for Chris. It would've made more sense if you said Oz from BtVS.

reply

I think you were biased before you even saw the episode just from reading the OP. It took me a few to place the voice and I watch Robot Chicken and Family Guy. He didn't do anything goofy and didn't do a bad job in the one episode we've seen so far. I just knew it sounded familiar. Wait a few episodes until Leo's back on his feet, if too much Seth Green comedy seeps in then we can pass judgement. Don't be one of those people who let a cast change ruin the show, it's silly.

reply

I get that impression too. He sounds like a slighty lower pitched Chris Griffin... so it might take a while to set in.

reply

I just don't understand why that guy who temporarily replaced Jason Biggs didn't stick around. I couldn't even tell that Leo's voiced had changed until I read something about it.

reply

Yeah Dominic Catrambone was perfect. No reason to replace him other than they want a 'name actor' to be Leo.

reply

Agree. They chose a name actor over a better choice for the character and show.

I like Seth but he just isn't Leo and there's nothing wrong with saying that.

I'm sure people said the same thing about Jason Biggs. The other actor sounded similarly to Jason and obviously they want a different version of Leo.

reply

You must work for the show, and trying to do PR damage, huh retro4?

reply

Retro's kinda right though. Jason Biggs' body of work doesn't exactly scream "Leonardo" to me either and everyone liked him. If anything his awkward nerdiness would've pointed me towards Donny instead but he was a good Leo. I think we're better off waiting a few episodes before deciding whether or not to hate Seth. I was just thankful they wrote the voice change into the script, lame as the excuse was. Kids notice that stuff and want to know why.

I actually thought that was plausible excuse. I don't see what other reason they could have came up with that would have been more believable.

reply

I guess you're right it really wasn't all that lame.

reply

SG is NOT a good Leo. What!? By some miracle his voice will improve, it's been 3 episodes already...still awful!!

Any factual news on why they didn't keep Dominic as Leo?

reply

Yeah with like half a dozen lines in each. Why does he suck? What has he done wrong? The dude's done a ton of voice acting, specifically male teenage voices. It's not like he's not qualified. I'm not sure what you've got against him but I'm getting to the point where I can't see your opinion as anything but biased on some personal dislike of Seth Green.

All I was saying is it takes a few episodes to get used to a change in cast in any show, cartoon or not. Don't ever try watching any British television shows, they'll make your head explode with cast changes.

The fact that you said something like that convince me that you're either trolling or not that bright.

The fact that you are resorting to such petty retorts has convinced me, that you indeed have something to do with the show. You are either Ciro or Brandon, one of their PR's or their bitch!

reply

I would never stop watching due to Leo's voice, but I am happier whenever he isn't in a scene/doesn't speak. I hate to admit that, Leo should be awesome. I'm just not feeling it. No hate on Green, I just don't think he fits.

Who knows, maybe by the end of season 4 people will be all, "Who is a better Leo, Biggs or Green?" and it'll be an even split. Stranger things have happened. 😊

Been a Seth fan since Buffy...hell even before that I like him before knowing who he was as the grown acting date for his future Willow in "My Stepmother is an Alien" lol As Leo though, not feeling it...but I will give him a chance because I like Green.....I couldn't stand Jason Biggs and he ended up owning the Leo role and was better to me than the iconic original and the '03...because he sounded like a serious teen instead of a grown ass hero like '87 Leo...had Set started the role it wouldn't be any complaints by now....time will tell....honestly don't care for "big names" in voice roles unless they are going to str8 own the character....the biggest name there to me belongs to Rob P...not only a voice legend at this point but being his history as the original smart alec Raphael voice is great...and he is 100% perfect for this Don incarnation... As "Turtles Forever" proved...there is no ONE TMNT....there is Turtle Prime....and all the many others....

The world is crazy, nuff said

reply

Haha I totally agree, he's tarnishing Leos Legacy. They need someone with a great voice to cast Leo, not just any white dude. I know this show is focusing on Don, since he was always an after thought most of the time before. But don't leave Leo hanging, that's my face turtle

reply

It's 5 episodes in, and I just do not like Seth as Leo, at all. I am seriously thinking of just not watching the show anymore, because of how awful he is. I'll linger on until Dark Raph shows up, but I highly doubt I'm going to find the interest to continue on at the current rate the series is in. Seth voicing Leo, the constant horror and 1990 movie references, the axing of female characters like Karai and Irma, this show is quickly going down an ugly path that it may never recover. Shame, it had so much potential.

My main issue with his voice is that his exclamations just sound off and forced to me.

reply

Personally I think he is getting better and the last 2 eps have shown great improvement.

IS this what this thread is going to amount to?

There really is no pleasing people.

Many complained about Jason Biggs' attitude and wanted him fired, and it happened.

Many wanted Dominic Catrambone replaced as well.

Many want Seth Green gone as Leo and he has only voiced him for a couple episodes.

Make up your minds people! Sheesh!

reply

"Many" doesn't mean it's the same people in each case. Obviously.

reply

Green is growing on me.

Still not "there" yet, but I'm starting to come around on some of his deliveries.

They thought they were alone...

reply

I don't mind his voice. He is actually getting better each episode and making the role his own. His voice also has more of a cartoon feel than Biggs's. I don't miss Biggs at all after all of the controversy caused.

reply

I personally, still don't understand why (if they had to get rid of Jason Biggs due to his inappropriate Twitter behavior) they simply couldn't keep Dominic Catrambone as Leo besides them needing another "name" actor (i.e. Scott Evil replacing the guy from American Pie)?

reply

That I do agree with. It does seem like they suddenly realized they had extra money in the budget and figured they needed to blow it.

Either Seth is getting better or I'm just getting more used to him. It's sounding better every episode.
