Apparently, Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson are returning for The Batman II, while Affleck and the guy who directed It and The Flash will be doing Batman: The Brave and the Bold. On top of this, we got Joker Deaux coming out, and it's rumored Batman (or at least Bruce Wayne) will make an appearance in that movie too. Is it possible to just NOT make a Batman IP for more than 5 years?
As things stand at the moment, Affleck is done, Keaton is done (despite initial plans to the contrary), and the appearance of Clooney in The Flash was just a one-off gag. Bruce Wayne appeared as a child in Joker but I've not heard anything beyond fan speculation that Batman could appear in that universe (I doubt it). So it seems it'll be Pattinson and whoever Gunn picks for TBATB.
honestly that's still too many. I still remember being confused and pissed about The Amazing Spider-Man being made just 4 years after Spider-Man 3. Studios seem not to realize that if they wait a few years and build more hype, we'll come in record numbers. But just as the Star Wars movies got oversaturated, so can anything else. What will happen when these superhero movies become so commonplace that everyone, even diehard comic book nerds, is done with them?
'I still remember being confused and pissed about The Amazing Spider-Man being made just 4 years after Spider-Man 3.'
A similar thing happened when Affleck took over from Bale with BvS, just four years after TDKR. I remember even Bale said something about being surprised the character was being rebooted so soon.
Everyone wonders why WB/DC sticks to Batman, well, the answer is right there. No one will see the other heroes. Batman gets butts in seats. They got lucky with Wonder Woman and Aquaman, but no one really watched WW84 (aka Wonder Woman 2) and majority of those that did said it sucked, and no one is looking forward to Aquaman 2. The Suicide Squad though flopped, Birds Of Prey pretty much flopped (but that could be blamed on it releasing a couple weeks before movie theaters shut down because of some stupid virus), Black Adam flopped, and The Flash flopped. The only recent DC movie to do well was The Batman. Oh and yes Batman is in The Flash, but his name is not in the title of the movie or some variation of his name (The Dark Knight, for example). If "Batman" was in the title for The Flash movie, probably more people would've saw it. But Batman is WB/DC's moneymaker and the one to get butts in seats. So no wonder WB keeps heavily focusing on Batman and no one else. With everything non-Batman flopping, it just shows that Batman is the only good thing about DC. Superman I'd say is in second place. Also, after James Gunn altered The Flash's ending to include Clooney, I've lost all interest in his DC reboot. I'll take it a movie at a time. Right now the only DC movie I give a crap about is The Batman 2. I want to be excited for Aquaman 2, but there is no point when DC is getting a reboot. So probably no more Momoa Aquaman after Aquaman 2. They'll probably reboot and re-cast the character for Gunn's universe.
WW84 was terrible, also had terrible marketing and came out at a bad time.
Nobody wants Aquaman 2 because the world briefly sided with Amber Heard when she was clearly guilty. Depp got fired from the movie because of rumors and blind accusations but Amber kept her spot even after she was proven to be wrong. Nobody wants to support that movie anymore.
The Suicide Squad was the sequel to a horrible movie.
Bird Of Prey had an R-rating. I don't really even remember much with the marketing.
The Flash stars a known abuser and groomer.
Black Adam really wasn't that good. Dwayne Johnson's clause of not being able to be hurt or defeated in a fight really showed cracks in his ego.
Fun fact; the reason that Justice League: Mortal, which would’ve had Armie Hammer as Batman, was ultimately canceled was because WB didn’t want to dilute the brand by introducing a new Batman at the same time that Christian Bale’s Batman was still around.
I've never been a big fan of Batman stories, save for the Dark Knight. This most recent one was overdrawn, slow, overall uninteresting story line.
Is it possible to make Batman a "human" vigilante without fake superpowers? Sure he should have all the gadgets money can buy, but c'mon -- no guns/death makes this a ramped up ninja movie reminiscent of the 70s kung fu comedies.
Nolan had the right idea, but still required suspension of disbelief.. make it Raw, real and human. Drop commish gordon, catwoman, etc... merge Bruce Wayne right into the Joker's (phoenix) world - get it right.
I kind of Wish they wouldn't bother making "The Batman 2". Because the movie wasn't even that fucking good. It wasn't even better than Batman Begins, Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises. And I thought Dark Knight Rises was worst out the Trilogy. And Pattinson Batman is probably the most incompetent Batman ive ever seen. As Silly as Batman and Robin was. At Least George Clooney Batman unfroze the city and saved Alfred. If Pattinson was in the same situation, Alfred would be fucking dead. I wouldn't want Pattinson Batman running a Pizza Hut. Let alone trying to save anyone. As for being a Detective, He just sucks at it. He wouldn't need to cause a pile up on the Highway. If he actually knew Spanish.
