In lore, is Gotham susceptible to flooding?

Is it supposed to be below sea level as is implied here?

Or is this just something they pulled out of their asses to manufacture a situation in this particular movie?

I don't remember Gotham ever being declared below sea level in the comics.

There are a LOT of comics, so I don't really know, and even if I did, it might be contradicted in another comic just as easily. Gotham was just New York for the first few comics, anyway, so Batman - like most superheroes - is a bit modular on the details.

The best bet would be to check the No Man's Land and Wargames storylines, since those comics deal with Gotham taking a huge beating. Maybe there was some flooding.

Generally, because it's meant to be New York-like, I wouldn't think it was below sea level. With that said, as I mentioned, lore is fuzzy with superheroes, so this version being susceptible to flooding doesn't bug me.

The Riddler flooding Gotham was taken directly from the Zero Year storyline in the comics.

oo didn't know that. Thought they made this one up.

Nice, thanks!
