What I'd like to see

I'd like to see a Batman movie that takes place in 1939 and has him the way Bob Kane envisioned him, filmed beautifully with today's technology. I think it would be a smash hitand would be quite refreshing and different from the nonsense that's being turned out these days.

reply

Yeah classic Batman would be good to see, but it was also Bill Finger who created Batman.

I'd love to see it as a film noir story before they became silly kid-friendly tales of the 50's.

reply

Yeah, I keep forgetting to give Bill Finger the proper credit. For decades all we ever heard about was Bob Kane.

reply

Yeah, I'm glad he gets credit nowdays though, check out Batman & Bill, a great documentry all about him.

reply

It's not going to happen as long as a shred of the DCEU remains alive!

Everyone would be happier if they KILL IT WITH FIRE.

reply

I'm with you 100% on this. I posted elsewhere about wanting a Fantastic Four movie set in 1961, and a Batman film set in the late thirties or early forties, if done properly, would be breathtaking to watch.

reply

The fantastic four idea is good. I've been thinking the last few years that most of the comic book characters really do belong in the 20th century anyway.

reply

Watch the 1940’s serials. There were two. I’ve seen them. Low budget but entertaining.

reply

Never gonna happen.

reply

That would be amazing. While I've enjoyed most Batman films, having one in 39 or the 40's would be fantastic. I think you put it perfectly with the term "refreshing". Unfortunately we are probably decades away from something like this ever happening.

reply

That is a brilliant idea!

Would love to see him teamed up with The Shadow too (the sequel to the above movie) since their MO is somewhat similar. Who owns the rights to The Shadow these days?

Maybe as some sort of alternate universe movie a la Joker.
