You killed charlie???? Even newsroom had an obligatory end of the series death?? I am appalled. Those last episodes were not worth the wait. Season two ended perfectly and would have allowed me to think fondly about the series, but now that's poisoned with the image of Charlie going down. I hate you sorkin. Charlie was the lively grandparent many of us are missing in our real lives. That was awful. Definitely not worth the shock value.
I'm rewatching, and I think it would have been better to skip Season 2. I can appreciate that Sorkin wanted to underscore how even "serious" news organizations can blow it, but I just thought the whole Genoa storyline was weak.
I agree that it was pointless to kill off Charlie, and the funeral just slowed the story. For that matter, the wedding slowed the story, but at least they got it out of the way quickly. The point, though, wasn't to provide the lively grandfather you never had, but to dramatize how essential a robust press is to the intelligent operation of a democratic nation. In that respect, I think Season 3 was head and shoulders above Season 2.
the death was a small shock but you could see it coming the episodes in s 3 were deff weaker the first on boston was good but then the whisteblower storyline i like the wrap up of the season the last episode was good but shame they couldnt have kept it going with good quality storylines the news keeps going on so there is always a bye line. still a very good show for 2 seasons and some of season 3.Deff way better than a lot of the crap that comes out of american studios these days
