They speak at a speed that will never happen in real life for real peopl

As about, it really bothers me.

Something that did bother me was the way each character was written - if you were to take most of their lines, write them down, shuffle them up and then read them back, you'd have a hard time discerning the quick-talking irreverent wit of one character apart from the rapid-fire acerbic wit of another character.

This is a good point that a couple people have made, and I've been noticing it more now, and trying to think how the characters lines could have been written better - e.g., would the non-newsy roommate lady (Lisa?) really talk in the same fashion as everyone else? Personalities are different; their dialog should reflect that.

I LOVE Sorkin's writing, though, and I too have found having the closed captions on really helps me keep up with everything.

True, very true.
But ask yourself this; when you watched this the first time, what was your impression of Will McAvoy? When I saw this on FB, I thought this was guy intellectually keeping it real

I'm very early into the series, but this aspect of the show is really turning me off it, it makes the people not feel real at all. Especially Maggie I have no idea what her problem is, she seems genuinely psychotic.

All of the comedy they try to cram into this doesn't mesh with it at all.

I speak at that speed. It’s normal to me. Too many folks hem and haw.
