Like Newsroom? Watch Network. (and answer this question for me)
Wow. I am seven minutes into the first episode of this show, and wow. Is it possible that Sorkin has managed to pull off a series that... tells the truth? If so, good Job Aaron.
This opening is highly reminiscent of the 1976 movie Network, with Faye Dunaway and Peter Finch. Has that been mentioned yet in this forum?
Yes, back then, they dared to make a movie that also tried to tell the truth. If you haven't seen the movie and wonder where the phrase "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more..." come from, it's this movie.

Anyway, I think I just found my new favorite show.
----------------------------
Edit: Near the end of the first show now. Question. How is it that even though Sorkin only wrote the episode, how is it that the episode executes as fervently, as symphonically, and as brilliantly as West Wing?
How is it that the guy who directed this pilot never directed a West Wing episode? There is a magic to the way this episode unfolds that I've rarely seen elsewhere.... except West Wing!
----------------------------
Edit 2: Wait. The first show was sooo good. But after watching 4 episodes now, not so much.
1) Getting "soapy".
2) There's some quality about the intensity of the show grates on your nerves, whereas that didn't happen with West Wing.
3) Political bias. Not truth. Left leaning oratory. Will is called a Republican but so far all he's done is attack conservatives. This is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The show is one-sided, while pretending otherwise (how many viewers have caught on?!). The presence of dear Jane Fonda confirms.
Revealed, the truth is (that's my Yoda imitation).
Anyway, now I really think you should watch Network.

Edit 3: Watched all three seasons. It passed the time. Final analysis. The thing I was so enthralled about in the first show... truth... they poked at the truth... stirred the embers a bit... but never really sparked to the heart of truth. Sure loved that witty dialog, punctuated by black humor though.
