Best Finale Ever?
Like a lot of fans I wished the show had gone on for a few years. That being said, when compared to other series finales how would you rank this finale. I think this tops Newhart and Cheers for #1.

shareI think if the series had ended after Season 2, THAT finale would have been one of the best.
Season 3 felt rushed at the end, like there were episodes that got cut for some reason.
It's just a shame this couldn't have had another year or two, and too bad Season 3 was so short.
Three words.... Six Feet Under.
shareIt was nice. A great finale? "Oz", "The Sopranos" or "The Shield". And amazing finale? "Six Feet Under"!
shareLovely finale, but for me, the best will always be "Six Feet Under."
shareThe Cheers finale was brutal. I enjoyed the Newsroom a lot and I was really impressed by the finale. The Shield and MASH had in amongst the best finales of all time for me. I thought the show Six Feet Under was really good, but not amazing. However, Six Feet Under's finale kicked my ass. Hands down the best finale of all time for me.

The best finales were Six Feet Under and Breaking Bad. Worst finales are Seinfeld, Sopranos, and House.
"Your authority is not recognized in Ft. Kickass."
I second Six Feet Under and Breaking Bad - I throw in "Fringe" as a dark horse, I loved the finale although it seemed a polarizing episode.
Also in the running - "Justified" (wicked underrated) and although it's a documentary "The Jinx" finale was phenomenal.
How could you forget Newhart, M*A*S*H, and St Elsewhere?
The cure for boredom is curiosity. Unfortunately, there is no cure for curiosity.
I thought the finale was excellent, definitely one of the best Ive seen, although to be fair, if you dont rewatch shows, you usually end up only remembering the bad ones.
At any rate, I went into this knowing that it got cancelled half way through s3 and I still loved the ride. I went into it knowing that it had it's problems, especially late-s1 and early s-2, but I'm glad I stuck it out because it was fantastic before and still pretty great after and there's not a lot of tv these days that I can honestly say that about.

I don't know, Butchie, instead.
I just re-watched and have to agree that it's excellent. I don't watch enough TV, though, to rank it. Although I did watch Six Feet Under and love seeing several people single it out, because that finale was amazing.
I'm sure I'm not the only fan of The West Wing to recognize this as the Newsroom version of In The Shadow of Two Gunmen. One of the best episodes (divided into two episodes) of The West Wing. (LOVE getting a look back at origins.)
"What else do you like? Lazy? Ugly? Horny? I got 'em all."
"You don't look lazy."
The final was very good indeed, I like that it wasn't a happy or a sad ending, more like a life goes on ending and I like the message of constantly throwing water out of your boat. I think it can be applied to many things in life.
With that said, I don't know if this is a great final. The best show finals should make my cry:
Pacific, Person of Interest, Dollhouse, Over the Garden Wall, Northern Exposure (ok I didn't actually cry at the final, I cried when Flashman left Alaska which I thought was the last episode) even Blackadder of all shows.
or make me cheer for a bloody massacre (Hannibal)
