Even in West Wing he foresaw in 1999 that internet privacy was going to be a conversation, Bin Laden being US nemesis 2 years before 9/11. Fast forward to 2012 he knew that the republican party was rotting from inside thanks to the radical right (so called alt right). And I fear that his prediction that the country will suffer because it doesnt have an responsible opposition.
TLDR: He foresaw the GOP implosion of 2016.
I think the radical right and the alt right are two different things. The radical right goes at least as far back as the 1950s. I think the alt right is a more recent development, although it does share some qualities and characteristics with the radical right.
Also, I'm a huge fan of Sorkin and look forward to whatever he does next.
