How many Sessions? (minor spoiler)

I watched this and sent my Netflix disc back already, but the more I think about it...

At their first meeting Cheryl indicated that the ground rules stipulate a maximum of 6 sessions.

At their last meeting they agree to forgo the last two sessions.

That means that would have been their fourth session, yet there seemed to be way more than that. It seemed there were at least three at the motel... and certainly at least that many or more at the friend's house.

Help... did anyone keep track?

I just finished reading her book and I recommend it. She usually has 5 - 6 sessions, over a period of weeks or even months.

It's because of the editing that one may get lost (I did). They planned on having 6, but only had 4.

Yes, I know how many there were supposed to be...

I'll watch it again someday with a pencil and paper (figuratively speaking.)

There were only two sessions at the house. The third one was supposed to be there too but his friend forgot and had some kind of party going on that day. I think it may have confused you because they cut back and forth between the last session, and his caregiver visiting with the motel employee, and Mark's conversation with the priest.
