After watching the DVD a second time noticed the following. In the exterior long shots of Mark's home it certainly appears to be a single family dwelling. But in the several scenes at the front door four mail boxes are visible. Was there any explanation of this anomaly in the film?

It's not necessarily an anomaly. Back in college, I lived in a single family dwelling that was partitioned into three apartments. Each apartment had its own entrance and it's own mailbox. Could have been the same thing going on here.
