It really depends on whether you saw the trailer. You "only" laughed a handful of times? I'd say that's what they were aiming for. It's not a comedy club, bro. It's a movie with a plot and a moral. Even American Pie spinoffs have that. Yes, there are funnier movies, but again, what did you expect?
It would be s**t if it didn't make you laugh at all, or maybe just once. Have you seen Movie 43? Piranha 3DD? Biodome? The Garbage Pail Kids Movie? Mr. Magoo? Freddy Got Fingered? Son of the Mask? Those movies are s**t. Dirty Grandpa is better than that. It's mediocre unless you have a huge aversion to sex/gay jokes, which brings me back to what did you expect?
Honestly I think most of the negativity might be from the gay/dick jokes as they are the most jarring. I just moved on from those, but I can understand if they got under the skin of some. share
It sounds like your argument is that if there are worse films, a film can't be considered terrible.
