Just saw it - not that funny (Spoilers)

I went in with high expectations. The trailer made me genuinely laugh a few times. I'm a huge fan of Deniro and Efron is a decent actor in the right role.

My issues with the movie:
1. It just wasn't that funny. Putting a thumb up someone's ass again and again is not funny. I laughed maybe five times total in the movie.
2. I found the store owner/drug dealer, the cops and the cousin to be flat, dead, unfunny characters. They just weren't funny. No one laughed at anything they did. They were stupid.
3. There was not plot other then 'let's go to Daytona beach' and 'I want to have sex.'
4. The movie felt very long and dragged for the final 2/3.

Positive things about the movie:
1. There are a few…maybe one or two…scenes where we feel a connection between Deniro and Efron.
2. Juliann Hough is very good as the *beep*, high expectations, entitled, rich girl.
3. Watching Deniro get into all these ridiculous situations is sometimes interesting.

I agree with most of your points as well. This just wasn't that funny. I do believe that Efron and De Niro are the biggest positives of the movie. They had good chemistry, and whenever there are some minor laughs, it is from their characters. Just not a ton to work with.

I think if the movie had better side characters (seriously, this may have the worst cast of side characters in a movie that I can remember), it would have been funnier. But they rely on these dumb, grating, and annoying characters for a lot of the movie's humor, especially the cops and the drug dealer.

Awful, just awful. And this is coming from a big fan of DeNiro comedies such as The King of Comedy, Analyze This, Meet the Parents, and The Intern. Hated this more than The Big Wedding which was also bad, but not as bad as this.

I have to agree with your assessment. It was kind of like Jim Carey Humor, but it just didn't work with Deniro. I like Deniro's movies, but this one wasn't that good. Very weak script, and the other characters that were supposed to be funny were bland. It did seem like this movie dragged on and on.

Maybe 3 laughs from me. Lots of cringing and boredom. Mostly it was depressing to see people behave in ways that are "supposed" to be funny, normal and acceptable - the most heinous of which was secretly drugging a person then letting them drive off on a motorcycle while also high and nude. Who need enemies when you have family and friends?

Spot on word for word.

I love Zefron and Deniro. I even perhaps feel they didn't really have any chemistry at all together on screen though.

It just wasn't that great. Chuckle worthy in parts, not bad but more meh. I expected way more. Deadpool was the quality laugh that I had been expecting.

Strangely my sister absolutely LOVED it though.

Other stupid and obvious things about this horrible piece of crap:

1. Daytona Beach police do not patrol the interstate.
2. Interstate 85 does not exist in Florida. (they call out I-85 when they are chasing the van and the bus).

Good things:
1. There were three or four times where I mildly laughed... they weren't that great though since I don't remember which specific scenes.

Bad things:
1. Don't need to see some gay guy shaking his junk around while wearing a g-string... just as disgusting as seeing fat women shaking their ass cheeks - not attractive at all.
2. I had some co-workers who would do the thumb-up-the-ass thing to each other. I first asked if they were gay.. they screamed no... then, why are you grabbing and poking another guy?!?!? If you aren't gay, you would never touch another guy other than to shake hands and I don't even like doing that. I told them if they touched me like that, I'd break their arm. One guy started to get me once and I grabbed his arm and twisted it around into his back until he cried. None of those guys tried to do any of that gay *beep* to me ever again.

Neutral Things about this crapfest:

1. OH, so that's Julianne Hough... I've heard the name so many times mentioned on the news or radio but had never seen her before. Too bad she lowered herself to perform in this crap.
