I'm a bit surprised by the overwhelming dislike for this movie here. Sure it's no masterpiece of comedy but my theater was laughing hard and loudly throughout... I'm just wondering what people were expecting going in to this movie? You can pretty much tell exactly what it's gonna be about from the trailer...

You may not think you are but deep down you are a bad person. The fact this is the movie you chose to trumpet your support for shows so much about you. Half of the few people at my screening walked out. Why of all the movies do you choae to defend this not only tasteless film but a film filled with piss poor acting, bad delivery, horrible context, terrible story, this.movie has no redeeming qualities. What is it about you that makes you want to throw your support behind this.

No the same thing happened at my screening (Montreal) when I saw it. People laughed throughout the movie and nobody walked out.

No you can't joke about anything and saying it's just a joke has become an excuse for being an a-hole. You can laugh at whatever you want and I can think your a horrible person who laughs at the thought of Zac Efron getting a BJ from a 5 year old. By the time the Dad got there Zac was fully nude with no bee in sight. Either way the kid was pulling on Efron's penis weather it was covered by a bee or not.
I loved it, too. Why would someone with the stated attitudes of jrains even go to this movie? The trailers and the title leave little doubt on what's in store.
shareBecause I have no problem with dirty movies. I liked 40 Year Old Virgin, The Hangover, Bad Grandpa, Bad Santa, Suerbad, and tons of other raunch comedies. This however had no wit amd the context is terrible it thinks just saying offensive things is funny. Aubrey Plaza's one of the worst all she does it rattle off how she wants to get F@#/$ and is that supposed to be funny. Yeah you're a slut we get it. There isn't a genuine character in the movie and it all comes off as vulgarity for vigarity's sake. There is a thing in comedy called context and this movie fails on context. All characters are unlikable people so why do I give a crap about them.

There is also a difference between laughing at horrible things & acting on them. Obviously. I myself like watching horror films & enjoy watching blood guts & gore along with teens getting slaughtered on screen, are you going to say I & lots of others who like horrors are horrible people because we enjoy that? It's a matter of personal preference & you can't judge.
I like dark humour & found that part of the film funny! That don't mean I'm going to act on what I just saw. The same reason why I'm not going to go & slaughter people after watching a horror film, with that bullsh!t that violence in cinema causes people to be killers & rapists! Pfft!
It's not the act that's funny. It's the horribly awkward and uncomfortable situation that this innocent guy, our hero finds himself.

Same here. I went on a Thursday night, so the theater was only about half full. But everyone I noticed was laughing their asses off, including myself. The only complaint I have is I didn't think Zac Efron had a great performance. I've become a fan of his....I like 17 Again, Neighbors, The Lucky One....and That Awkward Moment is probably one of my favorite movies of the last couple of years. Not an all time great movie....just a movie I really like and watch every time I see on. But yeah he just didn't seem on his A game in this movie. But besides that, I loved the movie. I tried to keep my expectations down just because I knew they had potential to be too high....but I shouldn't have worried because this movie is f'n hilarious! And in my honest opinion, I think it's awesome that Di Niro did this movie....I think the shock factor that he would go that far was awesome.

I am fan of dirty, inappropriate humor and offensive stuff in general, but I gotta admit that this was a very poorly made movie. The script was just terrible. It had 3 decent laughs, but that's about it: Deniro jerking off scene, a reference to 'mother's dick' and the very last scene (before credits). Otherwise it was utter garbage. And I sincerely hope that Deniro will stop acting in crap movies like this.
