more michael cera/jesse eisenberg confusion.

once you've seen more than one of these actors' movies, the differences between the actors becomes fairly apparent and you would no longer confuse them. so i've always gotten a little annoyed when people mix them up, since it simply requires basic observation to see the difference. the fact that ellen page is now in a movie with both of them gives all my friends another reason to go "is that the guy from juno?" ah, first world problems.

I personaly think jesse eisenberg is much a better actor than Michael Cera.

reply

that's part of the reason why it annoys me so much, when i put on the social network for one of my friends and they're like "is that the guy from juno?" and i'm like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHH!!! :D

reply

Thankfully Michael Cera is not part of this production...

I found Michael Cera's acting in To Rome With Love better than expected.

Lol...that was good

They still look reasonably similar, so the pairing with Ellen Page is interesting.

reply

I don't really see any look resemblance.... Also, Jesse will be paired with both Greta and Ellen.

reply

So you're all saying this movie not only has an actor that looks like an actor in Juno, but it also has Ellen Pages love interest, who is genuinely the same actor as her love interest in Juno?

That's a pretty weird coincendence

reply

Weirder yet, the only two films I watched, quite coincidentally, on Saturday, WERE To Rome with Love AND Juno.

I think mainly the confusion is they have the same voice pattern.

They really dont look that much alike.

true, and the tendency to typecast them as bumbling, cute adolescents.

We should all have problems like this.

I don't think that they look the same. But personally I think that they get so mixed up because of the roles they play, they play awkward nerdy characters about 90% of the time. in any movie I feel you could switch one out for the other and it would be the same result, that's how much the same they are. I don't know if you've heard either of them sing but they also sound exact when they sing (examples, listen to Michael Cera in "Juno" and Jesse Eisenberg in "The Squid And The Whale")

It's ridiculous. Apart from the hair, there's nothing remotely identical in both of them. While they might be both awkward, Eisenberg can act.

reply

hahaha that's ridiculous, jesse eisenberg is more suitable to play as a paralyzed kid or some malformed disorder..

reply

I don't get why people think they resemble each other. They look nothing alike, although they both sound awkward as hell, I don't get it. If it weren't for people saying they looked alike, otherwise it'd never have crossed my mind.

Their character types, their acting style, their vocal mannerisms are quite similar. I'd say that's even bigger than simply looking alike. So I can understand how people get them confused. I'd say any role Michael Cera has done Jesse could have done. And any role-some will debate The Social Network-Jesse has done Michael could have done. So they're at least interchangeable.

I hope you like feminist rants because that's kind of my thing.

Jesse E. will be taken as a more "serious" actor than Michael C. because Michael C. lacks "gravitas."
