Why is everything look stupid when they come to Woody Allen?

It happened in "New York Stories (1989)" and it happens again here, whenever a movie consist a few separate stories, the one with Woody Allen always looks stupid. In "New York Stories" his dead mother shows up in the sky where every one could see. In "To Rome with Love" he opens up an orchestra for a man to sing in the shower.

I can accept it if other stories went just as stupid, and I'll simply just laugh it 'til the end, but when other stories carried out with normal people in a normal world, Allen's parts becomes odd, and practically spoiled the who film!
