Bitty Allen?

I thought this was an entertaining, though flawed and fluffy film. The four stories in the film were all self contained, and the characters in one story didn't interact with those from another, as sometimes happens with this type of structure. In this film, you could easily leave out one story or replace one with a totally different story and it wouldn't make any difference.

I wonder if Allen chose to make a film with four different stories rather than just one as it easier to stick shorter ideas together than develop one story idea over an hour and a half?

The stories did seem to share commonalities (fame, adultery (a common Allen theme), choices/ paths chosen in life, for instance), so while they would be interchangeable to some degree, they all still clicked together. If you did remove/ replace one of the stories, you'd have to find another story with similar themes. Even "getting lost" is a theme that shows up in multiple stories and has metaphoric connotations.

As an side note, I don't personally think films with multiple plotlines need those stories to interstect, as long as they "work together" as with this picture. Your wanting these stories to weave together might be a case of wanting the movie to be a different movie.
