Tired of this crap

If I want to see a subtitled movie, I go to see one. Tired of movies like this where they put half of it in English and half subtitled.

Yes, I know, this is in Italy, I don't care. American made, mostly American actors and made for America.

I love foreign films and prefer to have subtitles on them, but I CHOOSE those when I want to freaking read the dialogue, not when I am watching something like this.

Woody Allen is the kind of director who wears his influences on his sleeve. With this film, he wanted to pay homage to great Italian directors like Fellini and Bertolucci, maybe Benigni as well. He also used a mostly local crew while shooting, and hired native Italian actors to play the parts of, well, native Italians. It really only makes sense that, at the very least, some of the film is in Italian. It doesn't matter that he's an American director who hired some mostly American actors; he writes the movie he wants to see, and this doesn't necessarily translate to writing for a strictly American audience.

It's an American film, shot and set in Italy. You thought the whole thing would be spoken in English? You're pretty dense, hey?
