No miniatures for the city at all? All CG??

That's a shame. Part of the charm of the original was the miniature work done on the buildings.

Using miniatures in films is kind of a lost art now, but the new Blade Runner has been immensely secretive, we have no idea how they plan on representing the city in the movie.

CGI is soo incredibly good and detailed now I'd have no problems with it.

The technology is no longer the issue, if there's any CGI that looks bad in movies made today its the fault of the humans in the team behind it not the technology itself. CGI when done right in the past 3-4 years is staggeringly good.

To be fair, using miniatures was just a tool used to get a certain effect. That tool has been replaced by CGI so why would they go back to expensive miniatures? CGI buildings don't look more or less fake than miniatures. Sure, there's a slightly different feel to them, but not enough to make or break a movie.
