I don't know if it's the sound design or what, but the Trailer felt so Blade Runner'ish - it's simply awesome!!! 
Someone, please hand me a time machine! I can't wait! 

Yeah, I liked it too for the same reasons you state.

Funny though, The Force Awakens was very similar to A New Hope, and that movie got trashed for 1) Not being original, 2) Not bringing anything new to the table, and 3) Basically a rehash of the ANH. I say it fit in well with the OT, just like Blade Runner 2049 appears to fit well in the established vision of the original movie.

BTW, if they have the 'voice-over' added, even better 
