Rian (Ryan?) Gosling is the blandest, douchiest of all current Hollywood A-Listers. It's such a pity they went with him to inherit Harrison Ford's lead role. Another sign of Hollywood losing it.
If the plan was to make this movie for young, gullible girls with bad taste, why not go full mental and cast Justin Bieber?

shareI first noticed him in Drive. I was amazed. I didn't like Gosling in Only God Forgives, but the whole movie is hit-and-miss. And I liked him a lot again in The Place Behind the Pines and The Big Short.
I guess that he didn't appear in enough Nolan's films to be considered "a true actor"...
I think he is one of the most underrated actors of this generation. His sheer ability to become a character, make us feel his emotions without going ballistic (DiCaprio). He's an actor of talent that is sorely missing in movies nowadays. That's why he is getting all these fantastic roles.
shareWell, he doesn't ever do anything. Like in Drive...he barely had any lines, and just had to look cool driving around. That's the type of role he's cast in. But I wouldn't call him a great actor for that.

Seriously man, you clearly haven't seen The Beleiver. In this film he plays a fiery, off the handle, young, neo Nazi, and he does so very convincingly. If you then watch Half Nelson straight afterwards, where he plays a passionate, witty, high school history teacher who leads a double life as a self hating crack addict, you will not believe he is the same person. You watch his performances before you call him bland and boring.
