Does Ryan Gosling look too 'clean-cut' for the world of BR?

This movie, even more so then the first, is set in a world of environmental and urban decay. Everyone in the first movie were pretty rough looking, but Ryan Gosling looks like he's holding up pretty well for a street cop.

Well in the first movie I kind of felt like the upper class people were pretty clean cut, tyrell, rachel and tyrell corporation staff in general looked pretty neat and orderly. There are shaved and not too rugged regular cops seen in Blade Runner as well. You just gotta look real close to notice these things because there is often a lot going on screen in Blade Runner. But Gosling definitely by nature doesn't look as rugged as harrison, he doesn't have the deep lines in his face. I still think he will do well, and if Goslings character ends up being a replicant...well theres another possible reason.

What if Officer K (Gosling) grew up in one of the privileged Off-World colonies, but was only recently assigned to work as a Blade Runner on Earth?

reply

He's no more clean cut than Ford was.

reply

Deckard had privileges too but he was depressive and a drinker. That's the difference you are seeing. Officer K is not weary of the ways of the world.

According to the trailer, the world is even worse shape by this time.

I was talking about a state of mind in which a character find himself, not the shape of the world.

He's also a male gigolo on the side. But that's a plot twist.

Whatever you are, be a good one.
