So now that that fnckery took place, what'd you think Shonda will do???

Ok. So I guess she filmed all types of BS so that she would have many options before it premiered. How do you guys think the real election will effect who Shonda chooses??? I'm going to assume she'll feel like she has to go with Mellie now. And also make sure Mellie does an excellent job even though that'd be totally out of character seeing as how Mel is unpredictably impulsive and spaztastic.

reply

At this point I don't care what she does. They could make Huck president and that would make more sense then real life. If Trump could be president in real life, why can't Mellie. She has more political experience than him even if it is very little. I'm depressed af. I need a break from political shows right now I think

reply

It's not even so much that trump won that's affecting me. My heart just aches for Hillary. I'm sure she, just like the rest of us, just knew she was about to move back in. It just sucks. It wasn't a game for her ya know. It was just a contest for the other guy,

I feel the same way. I voted for Hillary and really wanted her to win, and thought she couldn't possibly be beaten by "that buffoon" as you so succinctly phrased it. I've always felt she was the most intelligent of she and Bill and the two of them (Trump). I thought she would make a good president.

Yes, she's made mistakes, but basically, I've felt she's a decent person. And, I usually vote Republican. All these years, and I finally crossed party lines and voted Democrat for a more qualified candidate.

reply

Are you insane Hilary a decent person warped person did you hear about Benghazi wake up Hillary is no way decent she would have sold you all down the river

reply

Shonda won't do anything to put narrative on this election loss for Hillary through fictional Scandal.

reply

When Bush Jr Won the election , the West Wing continued a few more season of Democrat White house on TV .

I don't see any reason they have to change their storyline

reply

They don't but from what I think Ive heard, Shonda purposely waited until after the real election for the S6 premiere. So whatever she decides, I'll wonder what route she would have taken had Hillary won.

reply

I think the easiest solution will to have Mellie win the White House, with Jake as VP. Then Cyrus will be pulled away from Francisco as an associate for Mellie. The hard thing is I bet Shonda & Co thought she would have real-life material to work from with Clinton winning the election. Now, with Trump's unexpected win, his politics or nature doesn't match either candidate.

Regardless, Fitz is a republican while Obama was a democrat. The backlash, rioting, and uprise in bigotry that seems to have occurred this last week will allow for plenty of writing material.

reply

I think Shonda has written herself into a hole. No matter the outcome of the elections on Scandal, interest will have waned in the show because the current politics beat anything that's currently on TV. Nobody cares about faux-DC any more, not about Fitz, Olivia, Mellie, or Cyrus because real life events make TGIT pale in comparison. I honestly believe season 6 will be Scandal's last: the ratings will free-fall because the entire cast was in the tank for Hillary Clinton, and the Dems are beginning to distance themselves from anyone or anything that reminds them of the humiliation of the Nov 8 general election. I'm sorry to say but Shonda banished herself and her cast to the celebrity equivalent of a Siberian labor camp by going-for-broke for Hillary.

Just about everyone is Hollywood is mud in the eyes of ordinary people in this country. Designated Survivor's ratings are falling also. So are Madam Secretary's ratings. The only political drama that might survive within in next year or two may be House of Cards, but even Frank Underwood pales in comparison to the current character assuming the presidency on Jan 20 2017.

reply

I never thought I'd say that I'm no longer excited for Scandal to come back. I'm over elections and presidents and campaigns etc. I always said this long break was a mistake. If it had come back in Sept we would have been passed the election part by now and into the other storylines. They should have just filmed with Kerry pregnant and not worried about making decisions about the writing based off the real election.

reply

I'm actually looking forward to it a little more. But only because of Cy. I may love Fitz, Liv, Huck and them but Cyrus is the most complex character. He's so unpredictable and is so dangerous. The people around him don't even realize it. He's know Liv the longest. she knows him better than anyone yet Cy is able fnck her over every single time easily. She never sees it coming. There's things that she still doesn't know about. I'm looking forward to Cys story the most. I'm dying for Cy to be POTUS and him somehow making Liv VP.

reply

Cy as POTUS would be interesting but I hate to be negative. If the scenario doesn't place Jake in a high position like VP or something it's not gonna happen. Maybe Jake will fake his death and go into hiding.

But this is ABC we're talking about. Their drama department is in deep trouble right now, so even if Scandal comes back to series lows, it'll still be the #2 drama on ABC. So unless Shonda herself ends the show, which I don't see her doing since she hasn't recently launched a new hit, Scandal isn't going anywhere.

Love Cy but IMO Cyrus wasn't his usual self the last half of season 5. He cracked me up during the meeting in the kitchen but other than that it seemed like his character was missing something. Unfortunately the useless characters were more of a focus. Hopefully they bring the beast back.

They did film while Kerry was pregnant. They filmed about 6 episodes, if I'm remembering correctly. Kerry said the late return was not because of her pregnancy. That was a decision Shonda made before Kerry even told her she was pregnant.

reply

We don't know. Everybody keeps saying different things. It doesn't even matter the reason at this point. The point is this huge break was probably not a great idea.

I like Scandal but I don't want to hear anymore about an election and neither do a lot of people. Right about now I hope they all lose and Olivia goes back to fixing. That I want to see.

reply

Whether it was a network or Shonda decision to delay the return is what we don't know. And, I agree it probably wasn't the best decision.

I don't think anyone wants to hear anymore about an election. I didn't like the idea of Scandal having an election campaign while an actual election campaign was going on. It was too much. Election fatigue was already setting in for me. I, like you, wish they would go back to Olivia fixing. But, I don't think they will. Jake and Papa Pope have to stay relevant. And, the only way for them to stay relevant is spy crap. Plus, Olivia has to once again be the smartest person in the room to go back to fixing. And, she can't be that. How will Jake and her daddy be able to constantly make her seem like an idiot, if she is?

reply

Yes Jake and Papa Pope ruin everything.

Something that we can ALL agree on!

And if I only could,
make a deal with god,
And get him to swap our places

reply

Y'all, how is Scott Foley up for a People's Choice Award for favorite actor? Is he on a show I don't know about?

reply

Him and Kerry are nominated. As much as I love Kerry, I feel like her name is always thrown into things just for good measure. I have no idea how or why Scott could be nominated. I'm sure even he had to roll his eyes.

reply

Well, the People's Choice award nominees and winners are chosen by fans. He has his share of fans that are obviously more invested than most Scandal fans. Scandal is just the vehicle for them to see him. And, Kerry fans always try to get her nominated. Kerry did say the nomination was a surprise to her.

reply

I didn't even know he had fans like that--at least not enough to get nominated for a PC. But then I don't know anything about him outside of Scandal and Scream 3
