Not sure if I agree with this. Disney Channel scripts (at least at the time) required the actors to be funny, and Miley always nailed it when it came to comedy, back then and now. She did decently well during the dramatic or serious scenes on Hannah Montana, as well. Plus, Miley's onscreen charisma is off the charts.
At the very least, Miley Cyrus is an excellent comedic actress.
not really. miley had comedic timing, yet she was not particularly skilled actress by the slightest. of course disney channel shows requires overacting, but that doesn't necessarily makes you a good actor.
and frankly, everyone raves about miley's charisma, but i can't see it. she does have a certain "it" factor, but she lacks charisma.
Laura Marano isn't funny in the slightest (not even a little bit), and she turns every serious scene she's in into a joke (not that she had good or decent actors to work with *cough*Ross Lynch*cough*, but still). Not to mention her complete lack of charisma.
i agree that laura marano completely lacks any charisma or appeal, yet ross lynch was the very worst actor on the show. the thing which redeemed him was his looks, his on-stage charisma and appeal to a certain demographic, yet he was a bad actor. laura was the least charismatic of the main cast, yet she wasn't completely obnoxious either (as calum worthy, cough)
I agree with you on her The Last Song performance, but there were two scenes that stood out to me: the hospital scene when Ronnie gets mad and cries at her dad's sickness, and the scene after she plays the piano and starts crying because her father dies. She did excellent in those two scenes.
it's been a while since i've seen the last song, so i shan't really say so much about it. yet the majority of miley's acting in that movie was mediocre, especially in the scene where she scolds will for his secret.
